Dr Alex Bearman MRCVS

Alex graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017. Alex is from Somerset where she grew up helping on a neighbour’s beef and sheep farm. During her time at university Alex spent much time completing placements at various farm animal veterinary practices. Also, whilst at university she gained further farm animal experience by choosing to do the maximum number of weeks of elective farm animal teaching. This included a two-week rotation at the University of Utrecht’s ruminant hospital where she had the opportunity to work up a wide range of cases as well as being responsible for providing veterinary assistance to the university farm.

Alex has always been especially interested in production animal health and welfare and had the opportunity to complete a research project with a scholarship from the Humane Slaughter Association in her final year at university assessing the performance of captive bolt guns in UK cattle abattoirs and presenting the results at the Universities Federation of Animal Welfare annual scholars meeting.

In her spare time, Alex volunteers with St John Ambulance to provide First Aid cover at public events. She has enjoyed assisting at many major events across London including sports matches, music festivals and New Year’s Eve celebrations and is looking forward to joining the the farm team in Bridgnorth.
